Reds Left To Pick Up Wembley Pieces

Barnsley are today left counting the cost of Semi-Final defeat at Wembley with the news captain Brian Howard and winger Martin Devaney being ruled out of Wednesday night's crucial trip to Watford.

Howard picked up an ankle injury yesterday which required stitches at half-time whilst Devaney suffered a thigh injury. Both are expected to be fit for Saturday's trip to Preston but the game at Vicarage Road will come too soon.

Meanwhile, Howard could be returning to Wembley after all as he was yesterday nominated for the Player of The Round for the Semi-Final. It is the second time he has been nominated this season. He was beaten at the Quarter-Final stage by team-mate Kayode Odejayi but will now go against Lassana Diarra of Portsmouth, Neil Clement of West Brom and Joe Ledley, the Cardiff goal-scorer. Luke Steele and Odejayi will already be returning to Wembley after winning the award in previous rounds, so hey Kayode things aren't all bad...
