Barnsley boss Simon Davey is ready to turn to the Premier League Reserves again to solve the club's goal-scoring problems with a move for Bolton Wanderers Portuguese striker Ricardo Vaz Te.

Davey has already brought in Maceo Rigters from Blackburn with little joy and will now hope Vaz Te who has plundered just seven goals in 71 appearances for the Trotters (53 of which were as a substitute) can end Barnsley's chronic run of just eight goals in eleven games this season. The 22 year old hasn't scored since 2006 when he hit a purple patch of three goals in the last four games of the 2005-2006 season and has recently been suffering from injury.

Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

I've spoken to Gary Megson about Vaz Te, but I've spoken to a lot of managers about a lot of players,"

"Vaz Te is injured at the moment. He has a knee problem and has also been ill."

He added: "You sometimes need fresh faces in the team to find a spark. We have tried to freshen it up this season with Jon (Macken), Kayode (Odejayi) and Maceo (Rigters) all getting a run out.

"We have to try different things, but people are mistaken if they think that there's a Michael Owen out there just waiting to come out on loan."

Vaz Te who has featured for the Portugal Under 21 side has featured twice for Bolton this season, both as a substitute against Manchester United and Arsenal.
