Reds Looking To Lee The Way With Palace Striker

Barnsley's search for a target man looks to be centring on the south of the country after Crystal Palace manager and ex Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock claimed The Reds had bid for his striker Alan Lee.

The 30 year old is being chased by recently relegated Norwich after he impressed during a loan spell at Carrow Road last season, but Warnock said:

"We're a long way short of doing a deal (with Norwich) - I can't see a move to Norwich coming off. Firstly the fee is nowhere near what we value him at and their wage offer is nowhere near what Alan is getting.

"Alan wants to go there but he and his agent are not daft - if Norwich can't come up with the goods they will have to look at other options. We have had an offer from Barnsley."

This also follows on from claims that Reds boss Simon Davey has also registered a bid with Charlton Athletic for their striker Andy Gray. Gray hit seven goals for the Addicks last season as they finished bottom of the Championship, but the club are desperate to get his wages off the bill.
