Barnsley have today moved to entice more supporters through the Oakwell turnstiles for the final eight games of the 2012-2013 nPower Championship season by reducing ticket prices by £5.

Oakwell 1887 members will be able to purchase an adult ticket for £20 with non-members paying £25.

The club have privately become concerned with dwindling attendances this season as The Reds have struggled, winning just three league matches at Oakwell. There were just 13,999 there for Saturday’s game with Leeds, 3,500 down on last season’s meeting whilst only 12,484 turned up for the South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday in December. Even accounting for the game being shown live on SKY it was 5,360 less than their previous meeting in 2010.

The Reds average attendance this season is a lowly 10,249.
