Reds Set For Spanish Inquisition

Barnsley will face their first Spanish test tonight when they take on a side comprised of players from the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

The players have been training in sweltering conditions in Malaga since Monday and boss Simon Davey told
www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We have a game later today against the Glenn Hoddle Academy which will give them some more time on the pitch".

Meanwhile any faint hopes that The Reds could bring Lewin Nyatanga back to Oakwell have been extinguished after he sealed a £500,000 move to Championship rivals Bristol City last night.

Nyatanga had a highly successful two loan spells at Oakwell between 2007 and 2008, but, after being told by Derby boss Nigel Clough he was surplus to requirements at Pride Park, he has joined the Robins. At the end of the 2007-2008 season Davey actually had a deal in place to sign Nyatanga permanently but that ended when then-Derby boss Paul Jewell decided he wanted to keep the Welsh international.
