Defender Ryan Shotton’s excellent loan period at Barnsley has ended prematurely after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.
Shotton, 21, who has been a revelation in his 13 appearances on loan from Stoke was due to go back to the Britannia Stadium along with Carl Dickinson after the Boxing Day clash at Preston. But Shotton will now be suspended for that Roses clash.
It means The Reds will be without two loanees for the game at Deepdale. Nathan Doyle’s short term move from Hull ended at the full time whistle on Saturday.
