Reds Start With The R's.....

Last updated : 16 June 2008 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)
The 2008-2009 Coca-Cola Championship fixtures have pitched The Reds up at moneybags Queens Park Rangers and finished them with a long trip to Home Park to take on Plymouth Argyle in May. It is the first time Barnsley will have started and finished away from home since the 2004-2005.

As we are not allowed to publish the fixtures I feel it is best to let the Official Barnsley F.C Website take it away:

"SIMON Davey's side will kick off the new Championship season with a tough clash at money-laden Queens Park Rangers on Saturday August 9, 2008.

The new provisional fixture list has just been announced and the Reds will start at Loftus Road before a testing opening month. Barnsley's first home match comes up against Coventry City on August 16 with games against Birmingham City (A) and Derby County (H) follow on August 23 and August 30.

Barnsley's Boxing Day fixture is at Burnley while the Reds will make the long trip to Plymouth Argyle on the final day of the season (May 3).

BARNSLEY fans will have to wait until Saturday October 4 for their first taste of derby day action next season when Doncaster Rovers come to Oakwell.

However, with Sheffield Wednesday at home on Tuesday October 21 followed by the return trip to Doncaster a week later, supporters will be able to get their teeth into some serious South Yorkshire action. Sheffield United are at Oakwell on Saturday November 8 with the trip to Hillsborough coming up on Tuesday February 3, 2009. Barnsley are then at Bramall Lane on Saturday February 14, 2009."
