Reds To Deal With Lions

The full line-up for the 2010-2011 Npower Championship has now been completed after Millwall defeated Danny Wilson’s Swindon side 1-0 in the League One Play-Off Final today. A first half goal from captain Paul Robinson fired the Lions back into the second tier of English football after a four year absence (Millwall were relegated the same year Barnsley won promotion out of League One). It means Barnsley and Millwall will meet next season for the first time since the 2001-2002 campaign (the year The Reds were relegated out of Division One) when Millwall triumphed 3-1 at home and drew 1-1 at Oakwell.

Today’s result meant it was third time lucky in the play-offs for Millwall manager Kenny Jackett, after losing against Barnsley with Swansea in 2006 and in last year’s final to Scunthorpe with Millwall. But it was more play-off misery for ex Reds boss Danny Wilson. The man who led Barnsley to their one and only season in the Premier League back in 1997 has now suffered defeat in the end of season lottery three times. This year with Swindon and twice in successive seasons with Bristol City
