Barnsley owner Partrick Cryne has promised that the club will be active in the January transfer window as The Reds look for new players to bolster the fight against relegation.

Cryne told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"We expect to be active in the transfer market in January and I think that we need to be.

"Our supporters recognise weaknesses in the strength of our squad and they are quick to point out the lack of cover for key positions.

"We agree with the fans and that is why we will make signings in January."

Both Cryne and Shepherd also hinted that Simon Davey and Kevin Blackwell could be in the running for the mangerial vacancy but said an announcment wouldn't be made before Christmas.
