Today's Yorkshire Post says that Peter Ridsdale has spurned an approach from a mystery consortium aiming to take over the Reds.
Ridsdale has informed friends that although he is interested in returning to football he is not likely to want to get involved with Barnsley.
The consortium which approached Ridsdale still want to agree a deal with owner Peter Doyle but it is understood that he isn't yet willing to open negotiations.
