Ryan Returns!

Barnsley have moved to delight supporters turning up for today’s annual Open Day by securing Australian winger Ryan Williams from Fulham.

The 21 year old who was born in Perth spent a short two month loan spell at Oakwell under former boss Danny Wilson between October and December last year and was highly impressive during the seven games he played, in which Barnsley won three and lost only two.

Injury forced his return to London but it had been believed the Reds have kept tabs on his process, despite Lee Johnson replacing Wilson at the helm.

Williams who has also played for Portsmouth and Oxford, and also represented Australia at Under 20 and Under 23 level has failed to break into the Craven Cottage side since his return and photo evidence has shown him stood with Johnson on the edge of the Oakwell pitch this morning.

TykesMad sources report that the deal is a permanent one for a fee of around £300,000 with the player agreeing a two year deal with the option of a third.

The signing of Williams continues the club’s policy of signing young, hungry players with a good re-sale potential.
