Scottish Winger Deal Sealed

The Aberdeen Evening Press is reporting that Motherwell winger James O'Brien has turned down the Pittodrie outfit to sign a three-year deal with the Reds.

The 22-year-old winger started his career with Celtic but only made one appearance for the Scottish giants.

He had loan spells with Dunfermline and Dundee United before moving onto Motherwell in 2008. He has made 56 appearances for 'Well and scored 4 goals.

He also has six caps for Republic of Ireland's under-21s.

ABERDEEN FC boss Mark McGhee today warned Jim O’Brien is unlikely to be the only top transfer target he misses out on.

McGhee admitted he is “disappointed” Motherwell winger O’Brien has rejected the chance to sign for Aberdeen FC in favour of a move to Barnsley.

The 21-year-old, who McGhee had been chasing since last summer, has agreed a three year contract with the Tykes.

McGhee predicted O’Brien won’t be the last top SPL player to quit the top league in Scotland for the lower levels in England over the next few months.
