Interesting Stats:

Barnsley have lost just three of the last 10 meetings overall but have a wretched record at Scunthorpe.

The Iron have won 11 of the 18 clashes at home, losing just four.

The Reds have failed to win any of their last six trips with their last victory coming at the Old Showground back in 1981.

A Scunthorpe win will even the head to heads up at 13 league wins apiece. In all competitions Barnsley currently shade it 16 wins to 14.

Scunthorpe, who won 2-1 at Oakwell back in November have not done a league double over Barnsley since 1958-1959.

Playing Scunthorpe on a Tuesday night is becoming a regular theme. This will be the fifth time in six meetings they have met on this day.

The last time they met at Glanford Park, the man in the Scunthorpe dugout, Mark Robins, was Barnsley manager.

In only one of the last 15 meetings has a side scored more than twice and that was when Barnsley hit five back in 2005. Two of the last four meetings have finished goalless.

Scunthorpe’s 2-0 defeat at Preston on Saturday was only their fifth in 23 games under the management of Mark Robins.

Before his arrival in October they had lost eight of their opening 11 league matches, winning just two and were second bottom of League One.

Since then Robins has guided the Iron to nine victories and despite being only two places above Barnsley they are just five points off the playoff places.

The Iron have lost just two of their past nine home matches although the seven league games they have lost at Glanford Park is the fourth highest home defeats total in the division.

The Scunthorpe faithful have seen only two draws on their own patch this season, the lowest amount in League One and they have seen their side score just 17 home goals, only four teams have scored less at home.

Scunthorpe have kept just ONE clean sheet in their past 18 outings and have managed just two shutouts in the league this season.
