Interesting Stats

Both these sides have won 13 of the 34 league meetings.

Barnsley are chasing their first win at Brighton in seven attempts, dating back to 1988. They have lost each of their last five visits, scoring just twice in that time.

Barnsley have scored more than one goal in a game at Brighton just ONCE. They won 2-1 back in December 1970.

Overall the Seagulls have won six of the last nine meetings home and away, losing just twice.

This is Brighton’s fourth successive game against a team starting with the letter B.

Oscar Garcia’s men are currently on a six match unbeaten run, of which they have won three.

They have lost just twice at the Amex Stadium this season and conceded just nine goals.

They have however won just three home league matches. Amongst the division’s top 15 teams only Derby have won less in front of their own fans.

This will be Oscar Garcia’s first ever visit to Oakwell. He has one win (at Doncaster) and one defeat (at Leeds) from his only two previous trips to Yorkshire.

A change of manager typically results in a change of fortunes but Barnsley have failed to win any of their last three games immediately after sacking the man in the hot-seat, losing two.

They have won just one of the last 12 matches and staggeringly just seven of the last 31!

They have failed to score in their last three league games. It is their longest run without a league goal for exactly a year. They also went three without finding the net between the 3rd and 10th November last year.

The Reds have not gone four games without a goal since March 2012.

Barnsley have though conceded 35 in their 17 matches. 16 of those have come away from home- only Millwall and Bournemouth have conceded more on their travels this season.

They have conceded more goals than anybody else in the Championship, and the second most in the Football League- only League One Crewe (40) have conceded more. Their goal difference is also now –19, again only Crewe’s is worst.

Barnsley have the worst away record in the Football League, having picked up just ONE point away from Oakwell this season.

They have failed to win any of their last 15 matches on the road since defeating Middlesbrough 3-2 on the 9th February.

It is the club’s longest run without a win on the road for five years, when they went 16 without a victory between 6th October 2007 and 29th March 2008.
