Interesting Stats

Barnsley are looking for only their third victory in 16 South Yorkshire derbies with the men from S6 and their first in four.

Wednesday have won the last three meetings and secured a double over Barnsley in 2012-2013.

Barnsley have won just one of the last seven Oakwell meetings.

When the two sides met in a live televised game at Oakwell last season, Barnsley were 22nd and Wednesday 23rd in the table, just like they are now.

Barnsley went into it on the back of one win in 14, tomorrow they go in on the back of two wins in 14. Wednesday went into it after seven straight defeats, now they are on a run of 11 without a win.

These games are usually tight. Nobody has won this match by more than one goal since a 3-0 Wednesday success at Oakwell in 2006.

This is Sheffield Wednesday’s worst ever start to a season, never before have they failed to win any of their first 11 league matches.

The closest they have come in recent years was back in 1999-2000 when they were winless in all their first nine Premier League matches under ex Barnsley boss Danny Wilson and ended the season relegated.

Sheffield Wednesday have scored in every game but one of their 12 league and cup matches this season, but in only one- a 2-2 draw with Millwall- have they managed to net more than once.

Like Barnsley, The Owls are also yet to keep a clean sheet in the Championship this season, they are the only two sides yet to have a shutout.

Wednesday have drawn their last three matches, a stalemate at Oakwell would see them achieve four successive draws for the second time this season.

Before this season the last time it happened was 2008-2009 when they drew seven in a row.

Their tally of seven draws this season is the most in the Championship and joint most in the Football League.

The Owls have failed to win any of their last 10 matches on the road. They are one of only three Championship sides yet to win away this season, Barnsley and Ipswich are the others.

Barnsley are hunting for back to back wins for the first time since March and only a third victory in their last 15 outings in all competitions

The Football League’s leakiest defence has gone their first 12 matches without a clean sheet for the first time since 1952-53. Back then it took an amazing 19 matches to achieve their first shut out.

That season is arguably the worst in the club’s history. They finished bottom after picking up just 18 points from 42 matches and won just five games, both the lowest in the club’s history.

The Reds have shipped 15 goals in front of their own supporters. Nobody in the Championship has conceded more home goals.

If Wednesday score tomorrow, it will be the 2,500th goal Barnsley have conceded at Oakwell in their history.

13 is often seen as an unlucky number, and it certainly has been for Barnsley. Tomorrow is The Reds' 13th league match of the season and they have not won their 13th match for 10 years, losing seven of the last nine, including one against Sheffield Wednesday.

Ref Watch:

Robert Madley:

2013-2014: Games: 7 Yellows: 30 Reds: 3

He has shown yellow cards to both teams in each of his seven matches this season, two of which were Championship games.

Madley has never before refereed a Barnsley or Sheffield Wednesday match.
