Bolton's El-Hadji Diouf has been charged by the FA for spitting at Portsmouth's Arjan de Zeeuw in Saturday's 1-0 win for Pompey.

It is the third time the Senegalese international has been in trouble for this offence.

Bolton have already fined the forward a maximum two-weeks wages, while he publicly apologised.

"I deeply regret my actions and wish to apologise to Arjan de Zeeuw and Portsmouth,".

"My behaviour showed a lack of moral responsibility to the public who support me and I’m deeply sorry."

The former Reds defender also scored the only goal of the game.
