Steele Set For New Deal

Barnsley goal-keeper Luke Steele is set to remain at Oakwell after being offered a new one year contract. The 24 year old ex Manchester United youngster was set to be heading out of the door earlier in the season as he failed to displace Heinz Muller.

But a poor run of form from the giant German saw Steele get his chance in the 0-0 draw at Reading on the 18th April and he helped The Reds secure Championship safety as they went unbeaten for the remainder of the season.

Now a very good source of mine tells me Davey will reward Steele with a contract extension and a promise of more regular first team football if he continues to perform. This new deal for Steele means young goal-keeper Danny Free has been released.
