Barnsley FC this afternoon announced that goalkeeper Luke Steele has signed a new two year contract with the club, keeping him at Oakwell until 2011.
Steele, who signed in February 2008 and made that famous debut at Anfield has played as understudy to Heinz Muller for much of last season got his chance after a series of clangers by the German and impressed enough to earn a new deal.
Meanwhile, a story in the Herald in Scotland reported that the Reds and Reading were keeping tabs on Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam. The 23-year-old spent the back end of last season on loan wth Blackpool.
He has also had spells with Ross County and St Mirren. He has appeared 61 times for Rangers, netting 13 times.
