Steele Winning Race For Player Of Round

Barnsley's FA Cup hero Luke Steele is surging ahead in the race to be named "Player of the Round" for the Fifth Round.

A string of fine saves helped Barnsley to a shock 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield and the debutant was nominated for the award along with Cardiff's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Portsmouth's David James and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. Fans can vote on the FA website as as of 12:25pm on Friday 22nd February Steele had taken a massive 70.95% of the vote. James is next with 12.63% followed by Hasselbaink and Rooney both on 8.20%

The FA Cup Player of the Round award, sponsored by E.ON, is presented to the outstanding player at each stage of competition, starting from the First Qualifying Round all the way to the Semi-Final.

Player of the Round winners will receive VIP hospitality for themselves and their guest at The FA Cup Final on Saturday 17 May 2008.

The winner of each award will be presented with a trophyalong with a kit bag of training equipment which he can donate to a local school of his choice. Voting closes at 9am on Wednesday 27 February 2008.
