Striker Priority for Cryne

Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne has once again stated that a striker is the main item on The Reds summer shopping list.

A goal-scorer was the required component last summer and, to manager Simon Davey's credit he went out and spent £1.2m on Iain Hume, who was then taken out for the season with a fractured skull in November.

It is hoped Hume will be fit for the start of the 2009-2010 season, but another striker is desperately needed as only QPR, Doncaster and Plymouth scored less than The Reds. Even the relegated trio of Norwich, Southampton and Charlton bagged more goals than The Reds.

Cryne told the Barnsley Chronicle:

"We all know the need for a proven striker and that will be the key recruitment policy."

Cryne also stated he hoped the fans would forgive the club for a poor season and pleaded with them to take advantage of the £20 season ticket price cut.
