The Reds have taken their summer signings total to six following the capture of Stoke City's Uruguayan midfielder Diego Arismendi on a season-long loan.

The 6'2" holding midfield player has made 2 appearances for World Cup semi-finalists Uruguay and spent the back end of last season on loan to League One side Brighton.

He signed for Stoke from Montevideo based Uruguayan outfit Club Nacional in 2009 for £2.6m with the fee rising to a potential £4.8m. He made 55 appearances there, scoring twice.

Reds manager Mark Robins spoke of his newest recruit:

"I am delighted to have brought Diego into the club. He has signed on a season-long loan and I am very pleased that Stoke City have allowed him to come here.

"He is a full Uruguayan international. He has not played much for Stoke but they signed him for a big fee last summer and I am looking forward to working with him. He is a very good player and will compete for a place in our midfield. Diego is another great addition to our squad.

"There are one or two things happening as well and we are close on a couple. Hopefully we will have more announcements to make soon".
