Supporters Trust Meeting

The Barnsley FC Supporters Trust meeting with Owner Patrick Cryne and Chairman Gordon Shepherd brought up some intriguing points.

Firstly both Cryne and Shepherd believe that if The Reds keep progressing then manager Simon Davey will be a target for Premiership clubs.

Also the pair believe that even though 13th or 14th place would be an achievement after the last few years it will still be seen as under-achieving by the players. Cryne though claims the club are probably another player off being play-off contenders and really need a goal-scoring striker.

The most intriguing point however is that former midfielder Richard Kell had a part in bringing our defensive rock Dennis Souza to the club!!!

As you will probably remember Kell was signed from Scunthorpe by Andy Ritchie in the summer of 2005 with a broken leg and he never really had an impact at Oakwell.

Well it turns out Kell and Souza share the same agent and Kell and his agent were so impressed with how Barnsley looked after Kell during his injury problems that the agent recommended Souza to Davey!
