Swindon Town v Barnsley

Last updated : 26 November 2005 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Reds boss Andy Ritchie's failure to secure a striker on loan means Paul Hayes and Marc Richards will start up front at bottom club Swindon Town.
Ritchie's targets included players such as Man Utd starlets Gusieppe Rossi and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake but none have come to fruition.

Antony Kay returns from a one match suspension but Brian Howard misses out against his former club again whilst Daniel Nardiello remains sidelined. Nathan Jarman though has been passed fit to make the squad whilst Steven Watt plays the last game of his original loan deal from Chelsea, Paul Reid is struggling with a virus.

Probable LineUp:

Nick Colgan

Bobby Hassell

Steven Watt

Antony Kay

Neil Austin

Chris Shuker

Stephen McPhail

Jacob Burns

Martin Devaney

Paul Hayes

Marc Richards

Barnsley have failed to beat Swindon at the County Ground since 29th April 2000 which of course was the season that ended in play-off heartbreak at Wembley. Over the years though both teams are evenly matched. Swindon and Barnsley have beaten each other 15 times while there has been 17 draws. Swindon have failed to win at Oakwell since 1998.

The Reds will be looking for a double over The Robins though after a 2-0 success at Oakwell on the opening day of the season. Paul Hayes and Chris Shuker got the goals whilst Daniel Nardiello and Swindon's Jamie Cureton both missed penalties. Robbie Williams saw red for a deliberate handball.

Success for The Reds today could see them move up to 5th whilst defeat could see them drop as low as 13th.

A win for Swindon could see them move off the bottom
