Medals, caps and shirts worn by Manchester United's Barnsley-born star Tommy Taylor are set to fetch up to £40,000 at auction.

The legendary Busby Babe who lost his life in the Munich air crash played for Barnsley from 1949 until his transfer to United in 1953.

Before the tragedy he had been a United stalwart with just under 190 appearances for the Reds, scoring a phenomenal 128 goals. He was a big player in the team's championship winning years of 1956 and 57.

Taylor's record for England was even better with 16 goals, including two hat-tricks, in 19 games.

Tragically in February 1958, at the height of his career aged 25, he died in the Munich air crash which claimed the lives of six other team members.
