Barnsley failed to strengthen their squad before last night's Transfer deadline as rumoured bids for Port Vale's Leon Constantine and Swansea's Kevin McLeod failed, McLeod opting to join Colchester.
The Reds cannot now permanently strengthen the team until 1st January 2007 and can only make "emergency loans"
Meanwhile other Reds targets such as Colin Kazim-Richards and Michael Bridges moved clubs with Kazim-Richards jumping up to the Premiership with Sheffield United for £150,000 and Bridges joining Championship rivals Hull City for a deal worth up £350,000.
