Transfer Update

Former Reds loan star Adam Hammill has admitted he would love to return to Oakwell next season… but only if he does not figure in Liverpool's plans.

Hammill put in a number of eye catching displays during his four month stint in South Yorkshire and capped it with the opening goal in the final day 2-1 win at Plymouth. His pace and ability made him an instant fans favourite but he has now returned to Anfield to discuss his future with Kop boss Rafa Benitez.

He has been quoted as saying:

"I return to training with Liverpool on July 6th and hopefully I'll get a chance to chat to the manager and discuss my future. I've always said I want to be a Liverpool player. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid, but because it's such a big club it's always going to be difficult to break into the first team.

I'll have to see what happens but I wouldn't rule out a return to Barnsley, not at all."

Whilst hopes remain over Hammill, any prospective move for Leeds United goal machine Jermaine Beckford look gone.
According to the Barnsley Chronicle, both The Reds and Doncaster have enquired about the hitman who netted 34 goals in just 37 starts in League One last season but have been put off by the £2m price tag and by the fact the player's agent is quoted as saying Beckford would only leave Leeds for a Premier League club or a club competing at the top end of the Championship.

Other players linked in the Chronicle are Southampton striker David McGoldrick, Danny Webber who has just been released by Sheffield United and Hull City's Peter Halmosi.
