Transfer Window Underway

Last updated : 04 January 2008 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

The transfer window is fully up and running with a double departure at Oakwell and no its not Brian Howard or Heinz Muller.

Youngsters Thomas Harban and Nathan Joynes have joined Blue Square Premier outfit Halifax Town on a permanent basis.

Harban had just returned from a loan spell at Yorkshire rivals Bradford City in League Two and failed to make a single appearance for the Barnsley first team despite being handed a squad number.

Joynes meanwhile has been a prolific scorer for The Reserves- including scoring FOUR in a 6-4 triumph over Leeds United last season.

He has also had a spell with Bradford and made just one appearance for The Reds - the 5-0 hammering at Port Vale in April 2005.

A third player looking set to leave is full-back Paul Heckingbottom. Along with Harban and Joynes he joined Bradford on loan in the summer and is now believed to be considering an offer from the Bantams to stay.

Heckingbottom was a key player as The Reds won promotion to the Championship in 2005-2006 and scored one of the penalties in the nail-biting shootout win over Swansea at the Millennium Stadium. He suffered a torrid time in the Championship last term however in his 31 appearances.

Goalkeeper Heinz Muller looks safe- at lest from the clutches of Premier League Arsenal after manager Arsene Wenger he is not looking toi strengthen in the January sales.

Muller has been linked with a move to the Emirates and things could change if thier current German goalie, Jens Lehmann moves to Dortmund.
