Tug Of War For O'Grady

Charlton Athletic remain the favourites to sign Barnsley’s top scorer Chris O’Grady but the deal remains firmly in the balance.

Reports had suggested that The Reds had accepted a £500,000 bid from the London based outfit and whilst this appears to be the fee that is acceptable, the two sides are still locked in dialogue over how the amount will be paid, whilst the Addicks, who battled against relegation like Barnsley last season, are yet to agree personal terms with a player who bagged 15 goals for the relegated Reds.

His representative said:

"Hopefully things will get resolved but where we're at is a fee, which is close to what has been reported, has been agreed and dialogue remains ongoing

"One club has laid out a set way of how they want things done but at the moment they aren't even close. I'd say, as things stand, it was 50/50 as to whether it will happen.

"Clubs have made offers which have not been accepted so, yes, there is plenty of interest in Chris and he wants to stay at that level."

What does appear clear however is that Chris O’Grady will not be a Barnsley player for much longer.
