Two points dropped as Warhurst sees Red on debut

After the news of Barnsley coming out of administration 24 hours earlier, the mood at Oakwell was very optimistic, with the promise of the largest crowd in 3 seasons, and a local derby against a Sheffield Wednesday side who were in poor from, things looked good.

Ninety minutes later that changed. After taking the lead in the 27th minute with a fine volley by Kay from an even better cross from Burns, Barnsley Surrendered the lead (yet again) to a poor goal from Nsungu, who sent a header looping over a lifeless Illic, who had punched a previous cross directly into the path of Nsungu. Ten minutes later, Wednesdays (BOOOO) Gary Holt was sent of for a second yellow card after diving in the penalty area.

The halftime interval brought a renewed optimism, that now Wednesdays (BOOOO) were down to ten men, we should be able to get a comfortable victory

DOH!

Ten minutes into the second half Debutant Paul Warhurst was sent off for a second book able offence. Warhurst had been given a warning 2 minutes prior to the second yellow, and with Haywood warming up on the touch lines, a substitution looked Imminent.

DOH!

Nope, Haywood proceeded to sit down, and the second DEEDAA of the day was sent off (it’s ok to call him a DEEDAA, he’s still to play a full game for us). From then on the game went from bad to worse, with both sides opting to hoof balls into channels, and even short passes going astray.

On the final whistle the Wednesday Fans and Players seemed the happier of the two sides, whilst the Barnsley faithful bemoaned the dropping of another 2 points at home (yet again).
