Kiosk staff feared for their safety last night after a group of Manchester United "supporters" trashed a food kiosk in the North Stand during last night's 2-0 defeat stealing food and money. Staff had to hide in the storeroom as the fans ran riot.

A statement from Barnsley Football Club read:

BARNSLEY Football Club has today launched a full investigation into the disturbances during last night's Carling Cup game against Manchester United at Oakwell.

The Club are working closely with South Yorkshire Police and any persons found to be involved can expect a lifetime ban from Oakwell Stadium.

Barnsley Football Club will also press for the full use of the law against any persons identified in the events.

South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that seven arrests were made last night.

Two men aged 22 and 24 were arrested for public order offences.
26 year old man was arrested for theft.
A 32 year old man was arrested for throwing a missile onto a football pitch.

All four men are from Manchester.

In a separate incident, three Barnsley supporters were arrested for running onto the pitch during play.

Just goes to show, no matter how big the football club you associate yourself are, some people will always be small-minded!
