Barnsley fans probably thought they had seen the last of rivals Sheffield Wednesday for at least a year when the Owls fell through the Championship trapdoor nine days ago, but they will be coming to Oakwell as early as Tuesday 27th July after The Reds confirmed them as part of an intriguing pre-season line-up.

The Owls will converge on Oakwell at 7:45pm, three days after League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town have been. It remains to be seen which division Town will be in, as they compete in the League One Play-Offs.

Barnsley will also be on the road twice in pre-season. Their first game is on Tuesday 20th July at 7:30pm when they travel to York City. York may be a Football League side by this time, as they face Oxford in the Blue Square Premier Play-Off Final on Sunday.

And Barnsley supporters will have a new ground to visit as they head to Chesterfield on Saturday 31st July. The Sprieties will be in their new home after leaving Saltergate.
