Barnsley owner Peter Doyle says he will not sell club unless he receives an offer of £20million.

The town Mayor who has angered fans since taking over the club and was rumoured to be on the brink of selling up to Patrick Cryne, owner of Barnsley's sponsors iSoft.

Only last week, Peter Doyle was quoted as saying:

"If anyone is prepared to pay me pound-for-pound what I have just paid they can have the club. I may even come down in price."

But today, he told the official website: "Despite press reports to the contrary I have never, ever received a single offer to buy the club from any individual or individuals.

"I have spoken to an individual who enquired about making an offer for the club but his valuation fell way below that market value.

"The club is not for sale and even if it was I would be looking for the market value, which I am led to believe is somewhere in the region of £20m."

However, Doyle purchased Barnsley for under £3million after it went into administration and rumours regarding him wanting to sell off the club's land have been on the grapevine ever since.
