Barnsley have today been allowed to discuss terms with Bolton Wanderers striker Conor Wilkinson after agreeing a fee with the Championship outfit.

The Reds have believed to have had an offer of around £75,000 accepted for the 20 year old who has been at the Macron Stadium for two years.

He first caught the eye of Barnsley head coach Lee Johnson last season when he took the London born forward on two separate loan spells with his previous club Oldham Athletic in September 2014 and then February 2015, just three weeks before Johnson jumped ship from Boundary Park to Oakwell.

Wilkinson, who has also had loans with Chester and Torquay, netted three times in 17 appearances for Oldham and played in all three meetings with Barnsley last season.

Capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under 17, 19 and 21 level, Wilkinson who started as a trainee at Millwall but left for Bolton without making an appearance in 2013 has featured just seven times for the Trotters and could now be set to be reunited with Johnson on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile The Reds are still locked in talks with Brentford’s out of contract defender Alfie Mawson and have made an approach to Barnet for defender Andy Yiadom but as of now it is only an initial approach and nothing concrete.
