Windass Deal “Dead In The Water”

Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd has confirmed that Dean Windass will not be moving to Barnsley after Windass finally professed his loyalty in Bradford.

Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk Shepherd said:

“ I have spoken again today with Julian Rhodes, the chairman of Bradford City FC, in connection with a possible move for Dean Windass but unfortunately Bradford City are not prepared to let the player leave.

Dean Windass has confirmed to his chairman his desire to stay with Bradford City as he lives in the Bradford area and his children are very happy and settled at school.

Supporters will also be aware that Dean Windass turned down a move to Wigan Athletic less than three months ago. A transfer to the JJB Stadium would have given him a substantial increase in salary but this, he preferred a stay and continue his career with Bradford City Football Club.

I can also confirm that no further offer was made to Bradford City FC today simply because Julian Rhodes made it abundantly clear to me that Dean Windass would not be leaving his football club.”
