Youngsters Dreams Dashed

Youngsters Tom Beevor and Jonathan Loukes have seen their dreams of being future Barnsley heroes ended after the club confirmed both players have had their contracts cancelled by mutual consent.

Both players were in their third year as scholars and had been regulars at Academy and Reserve level.

Meanwhile new Cardiff City signing Iwan Redan claims he nearly signed for The Reds.

Cardiff signed Redan from Dutch side Willem II in preparation for Friday's Live Sky match between Cardiff and Barnsley and he revealed he could have been lining up against The Welsh side instead.

He told Cardiff City's Official Website: www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk

"I've fought against relegation for the past two seasons with Willem II but now I'm looking forward to fight for a club which has more ambition. This is a great opportunity. Barnsley were also interested, but I think I've made the right choice coming to Wales."

Another reported Reds target, Fulham defender Gabriel Zakuani has joined Stoke City on loan.
