Barnsley 0-1 Rochdale: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 12 August 2010 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

"There was no tempo to the game at all. We had all the possession but you would expect that. We murdered them with possession and rightly so but we had no cutting edge and no tempo tonight",

"We changed it but it took too long to have an effect and to give us impetus. It was too late in the game when we pushed on.

"We had limited them to one, maybe two chances but conceded a soft, soft goal and could not get back into it. We could have played until midnight and we still would not have scored.

"We changed the formation and that means that people's responsibilities change and it was a soft goal to concede.

"We have to be strong mentally now and go out on Saturday and win the game. We have got off to the worst possible start this season but we can only change that ourselves.

"We were great at keeping possession today but had nothing going forward. We were too static in the final third but that is what you pay money for. I am certainly looking around at that.

"We are out of a cup competition that we wanted to do well in. It is very easy to go back to the way the majority of teams play the game but we do not want to do that. There was criticism last season about the way we played the game and we have tried to change that this summer. We need results too although I am trying to change the way we play football as well.

"We want to play the game in the right way and I am going to try to do that".
