Barnsley 0-2 Southend: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 17 January 2007 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

"That was poor. It was a poor performance and a poor result. We had our chances but we needed some luck. It was just not good enough and that was the worst performance since I have been in this job.

"We created chances in the first half and they stuck one in from 30 yards probably against the run of play. We were still in the game and then we gifted them a goal after half time.

"They were hungrier than us. Of course we wanted to win the game and we did create chances but we just cannot buy a goal at the moment. We have to start putting them away.

"We are not getting the rub of the green at all in their area at the moment. We have to star hitting the back of the net.

"We have to pull ourselves together and pull ourselves up for the weekend. The dressing room is very down at the moment and we always knew that this would not be an easy job.

"The reaction from the supporters in the second half was disappointing but it is par for the course. All I will say is that we need those fans to be behind the team and they can really make a difference if we are going to stay in the Championship this season. We need them behind the players and that is all I can ask of them".

Sorry Simon but the only way we are going to have a chance of staying this league is if you depart. Having a go at the fans when you see the stats at the top of this page isnt exactly going to help you!
