Barnsley 1-3 Wolves: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 02 February 2017 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)
"We were alright apart form the goals. We gave them a two-goal head start from not defending set pieces properly and teams are going to score from set plays.

"Edwards made the same run from the first three set plays and gets two headers but we were naive today and that's what has cost us.

"That's what we stressed after the game and that's what costs you. We'll always try and be the best team but today we were the worst.

"I'm disappointed with the goals. I spoke to the players involved and we know that, and they know that because we do it well all the time.

"What we can't do is let anybody off the hook, we try and make it as black and white as possible, we make sure everyone knows their responsibilities and then they have to do that.

"Today we didn't and that's why we get on at them because that's what comes from it, goals."

"I've not watched Alex's sending off back, my thoughts initially were it was a red and when I watch it, if it is the same then he's let us down.

"If people jump out of tackles, we'll nail them, but if people tackle recklessly, we'll nail them as well. If they're going for the ball and they genuinely get it wrong and it can be construed as dangerous, so be it.

"But I'm speaking before I've seen it so it may be different.

"He nearly got a goal, he initially broke the play, then some quick passing, he made the third man run and found himself through so in the game, we had the better of the chances but we were naive from the set plays."

"I thought I'd freshen it up," he said. "You see the size of the squad we've got and obviously Callum made his full debut and we have debuts left, right and centre.

"We had an Under 18 on the bench and we're very light. It's a case of keeping absolutely everyone fresh and now we have another big game on Saturday.

"I'm pleased for him because last season he had horrendous injuries and the season was a write off but he showed good application and character to come back from it.

"It's a reward for his perseverance and hard work.

"He was close to going out on loan when we had extra bodies but with us not having enough players now, I couldn't afford to let him go out and he'll be glad I haven't let him go out,"

"The fans can see, two set plays and they'll be as frustrated as I was but the performance was there.

"We could have, and should have had goals, a couple of headers from Marley first half, that chance from Alex, and Adam's effort after the goals.

"We more than matched them in terms of play but it's the scoreline that matters. It wasn't our night, but we move on."
