Barnsley 2-2 Southampton: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 31 December 2007 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

"We gave it away and we have to learn to kill games off when we are in a position like that. We are very disappointed to concede two goals like that.

"Southampton did very well in the last half hour but controlled the game before then and could have been three, four or five up. That is the division we are playing in and if you give teams chances like that then they will score them. That is what we did in the second half. We are very disappointed but we have to move on and go and get three points at Scunthorpe.

"It is all ifs and buts and we should have been three up at half time. The next goal was always going to be crucial and they got it. I cannot fault my players effort today or at all in the last year. We have had a great first half to the season and we want to go on and do even better.

"We have come a long way in a very short space of time. We are disappointed to have conceded two points like that. The players are down but they know that they have made mistakes and we will work to put that right.

"I was very pleased to see Bobby (Hassell) come through 90 minutes. He was one of our most consistent performers last season and it has given me a massive headache for Tuesday when Stephen Foster comes back.

"I am distraught for Kayode (Odejayi). The fans were on his back from the very first minute and I really hoped for his sake that one of those would go in.

"It cannot help him. His a talent, he is raw and he is improving but sometimes people do not give you a chance.

"I work with him every day in training and the supporters and press do not see the things I do. He deserved to be in the team today because of his attitude after missing out, his work rate and his performance through the week. He deserved to be in the team".
