Barnsley 4-2 Blackpool: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 28 December 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

“It’s a great win for us and a much needed one. I thought we looked dangerous, Lloyd Isgrove was superb, Marley and Sam were a nuisance and Adam Hammill has always got that spark of brilliance in him.

“I thought we were really solid in the first half but we don’t see the games out in the right way. We had Conor Hourihane overlapping in the final 20 minutes.

“I know he wanted a goal and to give the fans something but you think just sit in there, keep it tight, but that’s just game management.

“But I have to say overall we thoroughly deserved it and had we have won 9-3 it would have been a fair result but overall, I’m delighted with the three points because that was the objective and we got the result we needed.”

“Early on in the season we were struggling to score goals from open play but we’ve put in a lot of work on that attacking play and we know we have quality there.

“Over the last six or seven games, our performances have been good, we’ve been conceding too many and we’ve been trying to work on it.”

“I didn’t know that (that The Reds had not won at home since September) and haven’t thought about that and I’ve focused on what we’re trying to do. We’ve got a big game next and a huge game next week in the first leg of the area final.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to reverse that run and go on a bit of a winning streak,”

“Matty Templeton's done really well. He’s a great kid and he deserves his chance because he has been excellent in the Under-21s.

“He has been unlucky not to get in the squad in recent weeks and he’s got a great left foot and is very dynamic.

“He might not be the brightest cat on the street at the moment but on the pitch, he has got those attributes and I just felt we might need to freshen it up.

“When they scored I questioned what I’d done but I was able to turn around and say what a good substitution that was.”
