Crewe 1-2 Barnsley: Post Match Reaction

"It was a really good win in the end,"

"I thought we started really well and created chances, got good opportunities. We were a little bit wasteful but looked a threat on the counter.

"Early on, it was our final ball that was letting us down. At the end of the first half, they came into it and got a sloppy goal from our part.

"At half time it was a case of every one of our players giving that 10% extra. Second half it was a case of spirit, determination and work rate. The set-plays have won us the game and that's why we do them, that's why we work on them."

"It was the quality in the final third. The pitch was lively and bumpy but that's the same for both teams. Our play up to the final third was good, it was just the final ball or the final cross that let us down.

"You have to win games and we've been doing that. Amongst that there's been some good football, especially on the counter. Today we didn't get rewards for the good football we showed.

"We actually spend a good 25 minutes after training with about five of lads taking free-kicks. Yeah, it's won us the game but I'm delighted for him (Mawson) because it's given him the belief to step up and do it because he's got great technique.

"It's a case of keeping going. The next game is all that matters and thats what we'll approach it like. It is important but we don't want to get carried away with anything."
