Gillingham 0-1 Barnsley: Post Match Reaction.

"I'm delighted. Victory away from home and a clean sheet it's the perfect result. I thought the boys were fantastic, very spirited. It was difficult, blowing a gale and against a side that were really in form and we had to come here and do a job. I thought the midfield five worked their socks off. George (Waring) worked really hard up front and got his rewards with the goal.

"We needed to play with that tempo today. Gillingham have got a lot of talented players who like to have a comfortable game and we had a lot of players in there stealing the ball. We had three or four really good opportunities on the break and we should have capitalised a bit more on them. And of course against a good side like that the keeper needs to pull you out of it in the last couple of minutes and he did.

"I haven't been here long but the lads have put in some spirited performances in the last couple of games and did so again today.

"Adam Davies was excellent on Tuesday night and I thought he was even better today. His kicking was good and he looked comfortable and pulled out a couple of good saves.

"We've jumped up a few places in the table and things are suddenly looking rosy.

"What we did really well today and I was pleased with is that we went from a real position of strength, recognised the triggers in the opposition and capitalised. Pearson was superb, Hourihane worked his socks off as well as Scowen. Not only did they shuffle and get behind the ball, but they broke very quickly as well.

"It was a good win, but let's not get too excited. There's a lot more to come, but the good thing is we have seen the spirit today."
