Barnsley 1-0 Burton

Last updated : 16 August 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley have failed to score a first half goal in any of their past six home matches and have scored only ONE in their past nine.

They have though followed up with second half strikes in eight of those (a total of 14 goals)

Even excluding shootouts, there have been four penalties in Barnsley’s last two matches.

For the second season in a row Conor Hourihane scores Barnsley’s first home goal of the season.

Barnsley scored in and won their first home game of a season for the first time since 2012 when they also won 1-0.

Barnsley had just two shots on target in the game. It is the first time they have won a match after having so few attempts since a 1-0 win over Oldham in February… Lee Johnson was in charge of Oldham that day.

Going back to the end of last season Barnsley won two home games in a row with back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since March.

Eight of Barnsley’s last nine victories have been accompanied by clean sheets.

Yesterday was Adam Davies’s 27th appearance for Barnsley and he has kept 10 clean sheets.

Burton lost for the first time since February (a total of 15 matches) and it was also the first time they have failed to score since that 1-0 defeat to Newport.

It was Burton’s first away defeat since the 24th February when they were defeated 1-0 at Accrington.

The Brewers have lost just four times since being hammered 5-0 at Oakwell in the FA Cup last November, all by a 1-0 score-line.
