Barnsley 1-0 Millwall.

FINALLY a win to savour, the first in six matches and only the second in 14.

Today brought a welcome clean sheet for The Reds, only their fourth of the season.

It brings some welcome respite for the Oakwell faithful. Before today Barnsley had won just one of their last 10 home games in all competitions.

The Reds have now won five of their last seven home matches over Millwall.

The Lions are really in freefall, they have failed to win any of their last six matches and have managed just one victory from their last 14 to now reside just one point above the relegation zone.

These two teams could not be any closer now. They have both won 19 meetings and both scored 70 goals against each other.

Jim O’Brien netted the only goal of the game after just four minutes- Barnsley’s fastest goal of the season.

It meant The Reds led at half time for only the ninth time in 34 matches this season. It was only the fifth time though that they have gone on to win the game.

Emmanuel Frimpong was booked today; he has received three yellows and one red in his four appearances so far.

The only real down side for Barnsley today was that the other two incumbents in the relegation zone- Charlton and Yeovil, also managed 1-0 home wins

Incredibly Yeovil’s last three wins have arrived on the 22nd February, 18th January and 3rd December, the same dates as Barnsley’s last three.
