Barnsley 1-0 Nottingham Forest.

Barnsley picked up their sixth win of the season on Saturday, the last three of which have all been to nil.

It was a third victory in 15 games for The Reds and they have lost just three of their last nine matches.

Unfortunately for Barnsley, just like two weeks ago, everybody else at the bottom also won, bar Charlton who did not play and therefore dropped to the foot of the Championship table.

Millwall’s shock 1-0 win at Derby- who had won eight of their last nine home games- was the Lions first victory in eight. Whilst Yeovil who defeated a Sheffield Wednesday side unbeaten in nine on the road by two goals to nil have now won each of their last four matches on the same day as Barnsley’s last four - 8th March, 22nd February, 18th January and 3rd December!

Dale Jennings hit Barnsley’s winner with a superb strike from the edge of the area to record his first goal for the club since joining from Bayern Munich in the summer. It was the 21 year old’s first goal since April 2011.

Despite a dire away record Barnsley have started to find a bit of form at Oakwell with this win extending their unbeaten run at home to five matches and they are unbeaten at home in the league in 2014.

They have also now won back-to-back home games for the first time since last April.

This was a first win in seven meetings with Nottingham Forest who have now won just one of their last eight visits to Oakwell.

Billy Davies’ side have now lost three league games on the bounce for the first time this season.

Saturday was only Barnsley’s fifth clean sheet of the season and they stopped Nottingham Forest scoring for the first time in 13 league matches.

The Reds have managed only ONE clean sheet this season when Peter Ramage has not played.

This was only Forest’s fourth defeat on the road this season.
