Barnsley 1-1 Preston

Last updated : 22 March 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

After going 19 games without a draw Barnsley have now had two in a row, the first time they have had back to back league draws since February 2014.

It is only Barnsley’s third home draw of the season, the others coming against Doncaster in November and Bristol City in October.

The Reds conceded a home goal for the first time in four matches.

Joe Garner became the first opposing player to open the scoring at Oakwell in 12 matches. Bristol City’s Luke Ayling was the last back in October.

It is only the third time in nine home games that Barnsley have conceded at all.

It is the first time home or away that The Reds have rescued something from a game when conceding the first goal since that Bristol encounter (eight games)

Barnsley were behind at half time for the first time in eight games.

The Reds are unbeaten in eight league matches, their longest unbeaten run for six years.

Barnsley have now managed just six first half goals in their past 18 matches.

Jabo Ibehre scored his first goal for Barnsley, six minutes after coming off the bench; it is the second home game in a row a substitute has scored.

Barnsley have now netted in each of their last 15 home league games, their best run since 2011 when they managed to net in 17 games in a row at Oakwell.

Lee Johnson is the first Barnsley manager/head coach to be unbeaten in his first six league games in charge since Gudjon Thordarson in 2003.

In Barnsley’s last home game, against Walsall, the visiting team failed to register a single shot on target. Preston had eight yesterday, only MK Dons have managed more at Oakwell this season, they had nine in their 5-3 victory. Doncaster also had eight on target in another 1-1 draw.

Barnsley themselves had only ONE, which was Ibehre’s goal, its their lowest amount in five home games when they again had just the one against Lee Johnson’s former team Oldham, and again it resulted in a goal.

Cameron Stewart made his Barnsley debut following his late loan arrival from Ipswich. It was the first time in five league outings that he has not been on the losing side. However Stewart has now failed to finish on the winning side for eight matches.

It was John O’Sullivan’s final game of his loan spell from Blackburn. He has featured eight times and Barnsley have remained undefeated during his time here.

Barnsley now have 55 points from 38 games. When they were promoted from this league in 2005-2006 they had six more points at this stage, but were only one place higher in the table.

This was only the second draw in 12 meetings with Preston and Barnsley have won only one of the last four at Oakwell.
