Barnsley 1-1 Reading

Last updated : 02 October 2013 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley avoided making their worst start to a season for 47 years by gaining only their fifth point of the season.

They are still yet to claim a clean sheet however, the first time they have failed to keep one in any of their first 10 matches since 1966.

The Reds did manage to avoid a fifth successive home defeat to Reading and in doing so avoided a fifth successive defeat this season.

It is the first time Barnsley have scored a home goal against the Royals since 2009.

Nine of Reading’s last 10 goals at Oakwell have now come in the second half and Hal Robson-Kanu has now scored in three of the last five meetings between the two clubs.

This stalemate means Barnsley have now won just two of the last 19 matches in all competitions and one of the last 13.
