Barnsley 1-1 Yeovil

Last updated : 15 December 2013 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

It is now a pitiful two wins from 22 matches for Barnsley and eight from 34.

The Reds goal came from a Marcus Tudgay penalty. It was the striker’s first goal in one WEEK short of a whole year! His last effort was the winning goal for Barnsley at Millwall on the 22nd December 2012.

He also becomes the first Barnsley striker to score since Marcus Pedersen netted against Sheffield Wednesday on the 26th October- eight games ago. That derby goal is the last time a Reds forward netted from open play.

It means The Reds have failed to score from open play in five of their last six matches.

They have gone six matches since they last netted a second half goal and have managed just ONE in the last 10 games.

Barnsley have won just one of their last six home games, and have drawn four of those.

Today was only the fourth time this season that Barnsley and their opponents have both scored first half goals.

Barnsley have fallen 1-0 behind in 13 of their 20 league matches this season and have failed to come back to win any of them, but this was only the third time they have not gone on to lose. D: 3 L: 10.

The result means that of the three times Barnsley and Yeovil have met, it has resulted in one win for each side plus one draw, with Yeovil netting at Oakwell for the first time ever.

The Glovers are now unbeaten in four matches, their best run ever at this level and their best run at all since April.

Today has been an amazing day in the Championship. Only one home side (Blackburn) won, whilst there were SEVEN away wins from the 11 games played.
