Barnsley 1-2 Port Vale

Last updated : 14 November 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley have lost eight league games in a row for the first time in 56 years. They also lost eight in a row in the 1958-1959 season, which was part of a run that saw them lose 10 of their final 11 games of the season…. And were relegated.

This was Barnsley’s fourth successive home league defeat, the first time this has happened since October 1993 when they lost five.

Barnsley have lost 11 of their 16 league games this season, the most in the division.

It is the first time they have lost as many as 11 league games before December since 2006- their first season back in the Championship

They have conceded 29 goals, only Colchester (37) have conceded more.

Barnsley have conceded the first goal in each of their past six matches and in nine of their last ten.

It has happened in each of their past five at Oakwell.

For the second game in a row Barnsley fell behind in the 40th minute.

Barnsley were behind at half time for the fourth successive match and the sixth time in their past eight league games overall.

The Reds have now failed to score a first half goal in any of their past seven matches. Their worst run since December 2012 (also 7)

They have now gone 11 games in all competitions without a clean sheet, their worst run since August- November 2013 (14)

Barnsley have failed to score a first half goal in any of their past seven matches.

Since winning six in a row back in March, Barnsley have won only five of the subsequent 26 league matches.

Barnsley have picked up at least two yellow cards in nine of their last ten matches.
