Birmingham 1-1 Barnsley.

Jacob Mellis' great freekick meant The Reds started the New Year with a point, but they have failed to win any of their last 10 1st January matches.

The Reds have now gone six matches without a win, their joint longest run of the season.

Barnsley's record now stands at one win in 12, two 26 matches, and eight in 38!

The Reds have failed to score a first half goal in ten of their last 11 matches.

One real positive is that Barnsley, who fell 1-0 behind for the 15th time this season, managed to avoid defeat then on for only the third occasion. All three have ended in 1-1 draws.

As mentioned before Mellis' equaliser came directly from a freekick. It means The Reds have managed to score from open play just twice in 10 matches.

Danny Wilson has now won just one of his last 13matches as Barnsley manager, and he has failed to win any of his first four since returning. He becomes the Reds manager since Paul Hart in 2004 to fail to win any of his first four matches at the helm. It took Hart six matches to gain his first victory. He is the first Reds boss since Andy Ritchie to manage not to lose any of his first two away games in charge.

The Reds also managed to avoid defeat on the road for only the third time this season, from 11 matches.

Five of Barnsley's last six goals have been scored by midfielders.

Birmingham stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches- now the longest current run in the division, but this was their fifth successive stalemate in front of their own supporters. They have failed to win any of their last eight home matches.

The Reds have won one of their last seven visits to St Andrews Stadium now.
